HIGH Peak motorists are being reminded to watch out for bikes by the Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership.
The partnership is advertising on the back of buses and on the radio to warn drivers about the dangers of failing to look out for bikes.
Partnership chairman Mike Ashworth said: “In Derbyshire, almost a third of bike crashes involve a driver who fails to look properly. Bikes are easy to miss because they are so much narrower than cars. Our advice is to look twice for bikes.
“It gets dark earlier now the clocks have gone back so it’s more important than ever to be aware of bikes.
“Bikers can make themselves easier to spot by using choosing riding gear that is fluorescent during the day and reflective at night. They can also improve their skills through rider training.”
