Residents in the Chapel-en-le-Frith area are being asked to help with an historical project.

Guy and Beryl Martin are transcribing the names and details of all those from the Chapel parish area who served and died in World Wars One and Two. The completed records will be held in the Chapel Parish Council archives for anyone to use.

The first section, which covers World War One up to George Alfred Lomas, will be available to view from early February. The completed WWI names for section two will be finished in late February/March along with the details of those who died in WWII.

But, while Guy and Beryl have the list of names of all those who served in WWI, only two people have so far come forward with their details.

Anyone whose relatives served in the Second World War is now being asked to provide information about them as soon as possible, alongside a photograph if available. Any documents or photographs will be copied and returned.

Contact Guy via email at martinguy@aol.com or at 23a Eccles Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith, SK23 9RP, telephone number 01298 815133.
