Walker injures ankle

MOUNTAIN Rescue Teams were called to Hathersage last week to assist the ambulance service.

The joint Edale and Buxton Teams snatch squad were called to the Surprise View Car Park to help a 52-year-old from the Whitley Bay area, who was on holiday in the Peak District, when she tripped on a rocky path sustaining an injury to her right ankle while walking in the Over Owler Tor area.

She was treated on site by team members, including pain relief and splinting, before being placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried some 400 metres to the waiting land ambulance for onward transport to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield for further treatment.
