Three Mountain Rescue Teams together with the Search and Rescue Dog Association were called out on Friday night after a walker was caught out by bad weather and darkness while walking on Bleaklow.
Edale Team Leader Ian Bunting said “The man was eventually located just before midnight by members of Glossop MRT, wet but otherwise unhurt and escorted off the hill into the Derwent Valley.
“By this time the water levels had risen so much that when our landrovers were crossing the West End River the water was washing over the top of the bonnet.”
Those intending to talk in the hills are urged to look at the weather forecast, dress appropriately, take plenty of food, take a map and compass and know how to use them, take a torch and spare batteries.
The Edale Team attended seven incidents over the festive period.
