A TEAM of 12 volunteers from St Mary’s Church, Buxton, took to the streets to tackle litter and in just two hours they collected enough rubbish to fill six large black bags.

The event was part of the Mission Action Plan (MAP) initiative at St Mary’s.

“MAP is about letting people know the church is an important part of their local community, and not just there for Sunday services,” said Father Chris Lowdon.

“Many people who worship at St Mary’s live locally, and they are keen to do their bit to look after the environment. It was a really enjoyable morning, and we got a lot of support and encouragement from neighbours who stopped to ask what we were doing.”
