CHRIST Church, Burbage, is holding a volunteer day to tidy up the churchyard next weekend.

The volunteer day will take place on Saturday, May 19 from 10.30am to 2.30pm and coffee, tea and light refreshments will be provided to all the helpers from noon.

Anyone who has a rockery plant they don’t need is asked to take it along to be planted in the rockery.

Work to be done also includes checking the fruit trees, sorting weeds and possibly pruning some of the trees.

Anyone who can help with the clean up is asked to go along on the day.

Later in the month, Christ Church is again holding a scarecrow festival from May 25 to June 4. Entry forms are available from church or the Buxton Advertiser office on Scarsdale Place, Buxton.

The winners of the scarecrow festival will be announced at the church’s Diamond Jubilee Fair by Bill Weston MBE.

The Diamond Jubilee Fair takes place on Monday, June 4 at Christ Church from 10.30am to 4pm.

A meeting about the Diamond Jubilee fair is to take place on Monday, May 14, meeting at the Rectory from 7.30pm. Anyone who can spare time to help on the day is asked to go along to the meeting to find out more.
