Villagers prepare for party time as carnival returns

Dove Holes is getting ready for more summer festivities with the annual carnival just around the corner.

The carnival quiz will be held this Saturday at The Queen’s Hotel, in Dove Holes, from 8pm.

There will be food, a raffle, disco and karaoke.

Entry is £1 per person and all proceeds will go towards the cost of the carnival.

Carnival and fete day is on Saturday, August 24. The parade will start at 1pm on Dale Road led by Dove Holes Brass Band, It will go up the main A6 towards Chapel–en–le–Frith before ending at the Community Centre, where the fete starts.

Among the activities on offer there will be an assault course, craft stalls, darts, strong man competition, cake competition and dog show, sponsored by Cemex, as well as a birds of prey demonstrations.

The fete will close around 4.30pm, then the entertainment continues at The Queens Hotel throughout the evening.

Thomas Green, aged 18, has been nominated to be this year’s Carnival King.
