A FLAGG teenager is to swap the Peak District for Vietnam this summer as part of a volunteer programme.
Alexandria Le Carpentier has joined Global Volunteer Network and will be participating in their Vietnam Youth Programme in July and August along with around 20 other young volunteers.
During the placement, Ally, 14, will be caring for orphaned, underprivileged and disabled children in the town of Tam Ky working to help provide them with food, clothing, shelter and education.
She will also help the children to learn basic English while doing arts, crafts and sports lessons to help support their learning.
As part of the preparation for her placement, Ally needs to raise money to make a charity donation to GVN-Vietnam.
So far she has taken part in a number of activities including running a charity stall for a day on Bakewell Market with support from Derbyshire Dales District Council.
Her latest event will take place on June 25 when she will be taking part in the Flagg Village Yard Sale, creating a variety of stalls including children’s face painting and photography.
Ally, who goes to Lady Manners School, would like to thank all her family and friends and all the local businesses including Brierlow Bar Bookstore, who have supported her so far.
