A firefighter has been airlifted to hospital after a crash involving a fire engine on the A6 this morning.
A crew from Bakewell were travelling along the A6 from Ashford to Taddington at 8.16am after being called to a road traffic collision with one person reported as being trapped, when the fire engine left the road and overturned.
A male firefighter, who was driving the appliance, was injured in the accident. He was later taken to hospital by air ambulance for further treatment.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Kam Basi, said: “Our priority at the present time is to the firefighters involved and their families, who are all receiving our full support.
“A full investigation into the incident has commenced.”
Firefighters from Buxton then attended the original crash while a crew from Chapel went to help their Bakewell colleagues.
