VIDEO: Buxton and High Peak shivers as snow arrives

SNOW has been falling in Buxton and across the High Peak today (Saturday).

Around five to ten centimetres is expected during Saturday in some parts of the East Midlands, followed by the threat of widespread icy conditions later.

An Amber weather alert for snow remains in force - the second highest warning issued by the Met Office.

Hazardous driving conditions have been reported, especially on high-level Peak District routes, and motorists are advised to take extra care as the snow and ice is likely to lead to travel disruption.

Trent Barton buses are not serving Chelmorton and Taddington for the rest of the today.

The wintry weather has already played havoc with local sporting fixtures, with non-league football matches involving Buxton, New Mills AFC and Glossop North End among those being postponed.
