RESIDENTS from across the county followed Derbyshire police on Twitter on Monday night to find out what officers were doing to keep the streets safe during Halloween.
During Tweet on the Beat, 35 updates were posted by the force between 5pm and 10pm, giving details of what Safer Neighbourhood officers were dealing with while on patrol as well as information about calls for service from elsewhere in the county.
The team on patrol tweeted about groups of youths they had dispersed, mini-moto drivers they had encountered and reports of anti-social behaviour they had attended.
Photographs of the patrols, and of activity in the force control centre, were also tweeted.
Web manager Ben Sherwin said: “We had a fantastic response from people who followed us on Twitter for the evening. “Many people posted messages of support, or thanked the force for keeping them up-to-date about what was going on.
“It was so well-received that we plan to hold similar Tweet on the Beat events in future.”
