Buxton Town Team are celebrating their first year with a special event next week.
The One Year On event is being held at the Pavilion Gardens on Tuesday June 11 from 7pm to 9pm when free refreshments will be provided.
Since the first meetings in spring 2012 to quickly pull together an application to become a Portas Pilot Town and receive a £100,000 grant, the Buxton Town Team have achieved a lot.
Unfortunately the bid for Portas funding was not successful, but the application process led to a ten-point plan of priorities to improve the town centre and a £10,000 grant from the Department for Communities and Local Government. It has also brought many people in the community together to help improve the town.
Anyone who took part in the early meetings of the town team, who has been involved in projects that have happened or has projects they would like the town team to support, or anyone who is interested in the town team’s activities is invited along to the first birthday event.
The event will also be an opportunity to celebrate the success of the spring fair, held on May 6, explore the priorities for the next 12 months and beyond, to join the town team, get involved in projects and share ideas with others.
