Town’s thanks to head

MEMBERS of Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council paid tribute to the retiring headteacher of Chapel High School last week.

Stuart Ash retired from the post after 18 years at the end of the school year and he was rewarded for his efforts with a community award from the Parish Council at their monthly meeting last Tuesday.

Presenting the award to Mr Ash, Cllr Peter Harrison said: “Stuart has done a sterling job, so much so that Ofsted in their inspection put the school in almost outstanding. That tells you something about his period in office as head of the school.

“I am very happy to thank Stuart for many years of good service to the local community.”

Mr Ash replied: “It is a real pleasure and honour to receive this award.”

Mr Ash is only the third headteacher in the school’s 59-year history.
