A BUXTON thrillseeker is to pit himself against one of the toughest endurance races in the Peak District.
Adam Walker, a lecturer of sports coaching, development and fitness at Buxton College, is taking part in the inaugural 21-mile Red Bull Steeplechase on Sunday October 7.
The gruelling course, which begins near Castleton and calls at Bamford, Hope and Edale, will be attempted by 250 competitors - with the lowest ranked 50 to arrive at each of four stage markers being eliminated.
Adam, 23, who has battled back to fitness after a full knee reconstruction, is running in aid of the Wings for Life Spinal Chord Research Foundation.
He said: “I went through a period after my operation of not being able to walk or run, and it was one of the worst times of my life, so I can’t imagine the difficulties that people with spinal injuries go through.”
