THE DEADLINE is approaching for nominations into this year’s Derbyshire Schools’ Sports Association Sports Awards, which will celebrate the county’s young sports stars.
A glittering ceremony will be held later this year to honour the sporting successes of local school pupils, with recognition given to those who have excelled in school sport or sport outside of school, and nominations for the event are currently being welcomed.
The event is organised by the Derbyshire Schools’ Sports Association (DSSA), and is a chance to mark the achievement and determination of the county’s best young talent, including young people with a disability, in a wide range of sports. It is also a chance for the DSSA to thank its most dedicated student and adult volunteers.
Schools, sport and area associations are invited to nominate individuals and teams from primary, secondary and special schools in the following categories: Individual Achievement, Team Achievement, Student Volunteer, Adult Volunteer.
Chair of DSSA Suzanne Meehan said: “This has been another great year for school sport in Derbyshire and it is important that we recognise talented young people, celebrate their achievements and encourage them to future success.”
Pupils attending any school within Derby and Derbyshire are eligible to be nominated, including those who were nominated last year.
The closing date for nominations is Friday June 17.
More information about the awards can be found at www.derbyshiressa.co.uk where nomination forms can also be downloaded.
