Firefighters were called to a house fire in Whaley Bridge this morning.

Crews from Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith and New Mills attended Alpha Mews at around 5.56am. On arrival they found a fire on the first floor of a three-storey domestic property. Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and carried out an inspection of the attic at neighbouring properties.

The ambulance service also attended to treat two adults and a child for smoke inhalation. A cat was also rescued from the property and given oxygen.
