A group of Buxton teenagers are inviting families to celebrate summer in style next week.

As part of the National Citizen Service social action programme, the ‘Making Changes’ group is hosting a fun day at the Green Man Gallery to raise money for Charis House.

The free event will be held on Wednesday August 17, between 12.30pm and 4.30pm, featuring face painting, hair braiding and a mini Olympics. Fancy dress is encouraged.

Charis House is part of Good News Family Care, which provides vital support, counselling and temporary accommodation to families in crisis.

The teenagers hope to use some of the money raised to renovate the garden at the house, creating a peaceful space for women and children fleeing violence or domestic abuse.
