Four High Peak police officers took fundraising to new heights at the weekend.

DC Laura Weston, Sergeant Darren Pope, PC Dave Pheasey, and PC Mat Winterbottom, took part in the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for two charities.

The group started their challenge from Ben Nevis in Scotland at just after 7am on Saturday before tackling Scafell Pike in England and then ending at Snowdon in Wales just under 24 hours later.

Pc Winterbottom said: “We completed the challenge with a time of 23 hours and 36 minutes.

“Despite the extreme heavy rain and wind that had a great impact on the task, we were all proud to complete the challenge.”

And the team’s efforts have so far raised over £1,200 for the Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust and Cancer Research, charities chosen after a colleague’s father sadly died from the asbestos-related cancer Mesothelioma.

PC Winterbottom added: “We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and donated to our fundraising.

“We’d also like to thank Derbyshire Police for their contribution.”
