Half term is a chance to get out of the house this October and explore some of Britain’s most popular places.

Two spots in Derbyshire have made it onto the new list complied by company Holiday Lettings.

Bakewell and Matlock have both has made it to the top 15 places to stay in a new report which is based on the number of booking an area received last year.

One of the country’s favourite market towns, Bakewell sits in the middle of the Peak District National Park, only a few miles from Sheffield.

The town came to prominence because of local warm springs (Bakewell’s name in the Doomsday Book is Badequella meaning Bath-well).

With sweet-toothed visitors coming from far and wide to try the Bakewell pudding, it is easy to see why it is a popular place.

Matlock also bagged a top spot with its pretty pubs and distinctive stone buildings and views across the Derwent Valley.
