HEAVY rain and strong winds battered the High Peak on Sunday, damaging roofs and uprooting a tree.
Speaking at a meeting of Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council, Cllr John Brook said: “A lady rang Derbyshire County Council who responded right away by blocking access to the road and removing it in a matter of hours. I think we should send a letter to DCC thanking them for their efficiency.”
Figures collected by Buxton weather site www.buxtonweather.co.uk show that 204mm (8.03 inches) of rain fell in April – believed to be the wettest recorded since 1920. The average monthly temperature was 4.73°C: last year it was 10.17°C.
