A new rural post office service in a High Peak village has received the stamp of approval.
The outreach facility was officially launched last week and will provide full Post Office services at Dove Holes Methodist Church twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 1pm.
High Peak MP Andrew Bingham, who cut the ribbon at Friday’s opening ceremony, said: “I’m delighted that the Dove Holes outreach service is now open, allowing customers in the area to continue to access Post Office products and services.”
The return of the Post Office facility to the methodist church, six years after it was withdrawn, follows a long-running battle by local residents.
Mr Bingham said: “The Post Office is vital to the community of Dove Holes and the surrounding area, and I want to pay tribute to the residents who have pursued this for a long time.”
Richard Hall, Post Office Senior Stakeholder Manager, added: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Dove Holes and we are confident that this service at the heart of the community will be popular.”
