Sporty Harpur Hill Primary School pupils will be eyeing more sporting glory after a winning end to 2015. The Trent Avenue school’s year five and six girls and boys hockey team recently triumphed in a local inter-school competition.

Meanwhile, there was success for year five and six pupils at six-a-side football, with two boys’ teams and the girls’ A team qualifying for the High Peak finals.

In the borough competition, both of the boys’ teams finished joint-fifth overall, while the girls secured third place and a bronze medal.

School sports co-ordinator Patrick O’Connor said: “At the competition our school’s behaviour and conduct was applauded by the organisers and we were awarded the Sainsbury’s Respect award.”
