Speeding motorists to be targeted in the Hope Valley

FURTHER speed checks are planned in and around the Hope Valley to ensure motorists slow down when driving through the area.

The warning comes from the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team who were joined on Thursday, August 18, by local residents to conduct a Community Speedwatch on Sheffield Road which has a 30mph speed limit.

PCSO Anthony Boswell from the Team said: “We intent to carry out further checks on a number of roads surrounding the Hope Valley in the up coming months.

“Any drivers caught breaking the limit are sent a letter to inform them about the check, to raise awareness of the local limits and that if they continue to speed, they risk a fine and penalty points on their driving licence.”

Community Speed Watch is a project where anyone with concerns about speeding traffic or nuisance motorists can volunteer to go out on patrol with their local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams and check the speed of passing vehicles.
