People are being urged to check the security of their outbuildings following a number of thefts in Birch Vale and New Mills.

A green Kawasaki Mule farming vehicle was stolen from a New Mills farm between 3.15pm on Thursday, December 11 and 8am the following day.

Between 5pm on Thursday, December 11 and 6am on Friday, December 12, offenders cut the locks off two outdoor buildings at a property on Over Hill Road, New Mills.

A pair of Harry Hall wellington boots were stolen after they searched two buildings and a caravan that was situated nearby.

On the same night, would-be thieves attempted to gain entry to a barn at a property on Garrison Road in Birch Vale. Damage was caused to the barn door however no entry was gained.

Police have issued a security reminder to encourage homeowners to protect their property from thieves, particularly those that may appear isolated.

Officers are urging people to ensure that their homes, along with any sheds, garages and outbuildings are properly secure and that keys and valuable items are kept out of view from passers-by.

Police are also asking people to property mark their valuables by using a security marking kit such as Smart Water. This can deter thieves along with helping officers to return stolen goods to their rightful owners.
