The sky’s the limit for supporters of Dove Holes Carnival, which takes place on August 27.
Three locals are taking part in a sponsored tandem parachute jump from 10,000 feet on August 12 in aid of Help for Heroes and carnival funds.
Karen Collins came up with the idea. She first jumped from just 3,000 feet at the age of 21, and at nearly is the oldest member to jump.
Also taking part are Nathen Moss, 19, who is Karen’s nephew, and Dee Allsop, 24.
To sponsor any of the jumpers or for more information, get in touch with Sally Tideswell via the contact form on the website www.dovecarnival.org.uk or by phone 07834 922 133.
Carnival and fete day on Saturday, August 27, will see the parade start at 1pm from Dale road, led as always by Dove Holes Brass Band.
It will include fancy dress walkers, commercial vehicles, bands, floats, visiting queens as well as their own King. The parade winds its way northwards up the A6 to finish at the Community Centre where the fete starts.
There will be many attractions including this year a Bucking Bronco challenge, a Scalextric track, craft stalls and side shows, a vegetable and cake competition in the marquee, food and drink, bouncy castles and rides for the little ones.
A court of Queens will be held on the football pitch at the back of the community, centre dependent on the weather.
The Billerettes will also be performing.
The village has once again been voting for the King and the committee can now announce that the new monrach for this year is Andrew Green.
Andrew, aged 22, has lived in the village all his life and is a long-serving member of Dove Holes Brass Band.
