A Buxton man broke a stranger’s nose after a fight outside a pub, a court heard.
Alexander Boylan had been in the Vault on Buxton Market Place on November 14 with friends when an argument began outside the pub.
He was punched to the head before police arrived to break up the fight. Shortly after, Mr Boylan went to sit on a bench on the market place away from the Vault when he was approached by Ian Scobie, who punched him once in the face with an uppercut punch which broke his nose, prosecutor John Cooper told High Peak Magistrates’ Court.
Scobie, 29, of Hollins Street, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
John Bunting, defending, said: “There was an unholy ruck outside the Vault and the defendant himself was hit.
“There was a degree of provocation throughout but it was certainly unpremeditated.
“It was just a single punch but unfortunately it did break his nose.”
The case was adjourned until December 22 so a pre-sentence report could be prepared.
