SHOPPERS will be able to view full details of Morrison’s expansion plans for their Buxton store when they go on display from today (Thursday).
The supermarket chain has applied to increase the size of their Bakewell Road store and extend the retail area from 1575m sq to 2376 m sq.
This week the firm have announced a four-day in-store event to give shoppers the opportunity to find out more, see the plans and ask questions.
Representatives from Morrisons professional team will be on hand today, Thursday, March 3 from 4pm – 8pm, Friday 4 from 10am-6pm, March 5 from 10am-4pm and Sunday 6 from 10am-2pm.
In a statement the firm said: “Morrisons is keen to hear the views of the local community and comments forms will be available for visitors to express their views.”
If approved the development would involve the excavation of part of the existing embankment to accommodate the store extension.
The car park layout would remain the same although some spaces would be removed to accommodate the planned extension. Parking numbers would be maintained by moving the recycling area closer to the service yard and by reconfiguring the parent and child spaces.
The proposals are expected to go before High Peak’s Development Control Committee in April.
