YOU can now find books as well as boots in a Buxton shoe shop!
Clarks Shoes in Spring Gardens is selling copies of ‘Mountain Rescue, History and Development in the Peak District’.
The illustrated book chronicles the history of incidents which have occurred in the Peak District hills from the early 20th century through to 2007, and the development of the mountain rescue service to respond effectively to them.
Chairman of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team Roger Bennett, who co-authored the book alongside Ian Hurst, said: “We are really grateful for this local support.”
And it’s not the first book to be sold in the shop either, as owner John Martin explained. “It is great to support our local authors, and in particular a local organisation such as this. You never know when you may need them,” he added.
The paperback, published in 2007, reprinted in 2009 and signed by the authors, retails at £12.99.
All the proceeds go to support mountain rescue.
