Police are scouring local CCTV footage as they try to trace a van in which a woman was sexually assaulted.

And now officers are re-appealing for witnesses to come forward with information to aid the investigation.

Sometime between 9pm and midnight on Wednesday, May 25, a woman was sexually assaulted in a van and dropped off in the Chinley area. She was later taken to hospital and released after treatment.

Police are now trying to trace a grey van that was seen in the Chinley, Hayfield and New Mills area during the evening of May 25.

They said: "We would also like to hear from anyone who saw a woman that evening, wearing a pink top and black leggings, who was walking barefoot along New Mills Road in Hayfield or Hayfield Road in Birch Vale, in the direction of New Mills.

Detective Sergeant Dan Hadfield of Derbyshire police said: “This is an extremely rare incident for the High Peak. We have been checking local CCTV and carrying out house to house inquiries in a bid to trace the van involved.”
