A new service to protect North Derbyshire patients from harmful infections has been launched.

Patients with healthcare associated infections such as Clostridium difficile (C difficile), and meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) will receive advice and support from specialist nurses in their own homes to help them recover. The new service will reduce the need for some patients to be admitted to hospital.

Jayne Stringfellow, chief nurse at NHS North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “Health care associated infections pose a serious risk for patients, health staff and visitors so we are delighted to have launched this service. Now there is more support available in GP practices and care homes to protect and prevent patients from infections.”
