A High Peak school is to benefit from an almost £30,000 investment for sports facilities.
Hague Bar Primary School in New Mills has been awarded £29,100 from Sport England’s Primary School Facilities Fund to help develop outdoor sports facilities.
The money will be used for new playground markings for juniors and infants, as well as tailor-made goalposts, hoops and target boards so games including football and basketball can be played safely and more effectively in the playground.
Headteacher Sue Kennedy said: “I was thrilled to hear the news that we had been successful in our bid to improve outdoor provision for sport at Hague Bar.
“As an ex-secondary PE teacher it is a subject close to my heart.
“Earlier this year we opened a wonderful extension to our 150-year-old school and the improvements to our playground will now be the icing on the cake. We are looking forward to being able to offer increased sports facilities to the community.”
The improved facilities will also be available for use by the local community outside school hours.
