FRIENDS of Furness Vale Station staged their sixth scarecrow competition on Saturday – with a royal couple among the entries.
Nigel Marshall, a member of the Friends group, even dressed as a scarecrow version of Prince Charles at the station, giving passengers a scare when he suddenly sprang to life as they passed.
A total of 13 scarecrows were entered in the competition, with visitors given a trail to follow on the day. The impressive entries included an Olympic torch bearer and even a caterpillar.
The event helped raise awareness about the work of the group and also boosted their funds which will be used to support their work on the garden at the station.
