High Peak residents are being invited to attend monthly meetings where police performance is considered.
Members of the public are being invited to the meetings by Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles, who meets with senior officers including Derbyshire’s Chief Constable Mick Creedon. Mr Creedon is aiming to build on the 16 per cent drop in crime which has been recorded so far this year.
At the Strategic Governance Board (SGB) meetings, which take place around the county, Mr Charles receives detailed reports on various aspects of police performance.
The latest meeting, held last week, saw Mr Charles go through a performance overview with the Chief Constable, before considering an in-depth report on the work surrounding the Safeguarding of Children.
He said: “This type of scrutiny will give the public confidence that their police force is subject to on-going review and challenge in key areas from the Commissioner they appointed to represent them.”
