A BUXTON Mountain Rescue volunteer is among 18 new Special Constables who have joined Derbyshire Police.
Around 100 friends and family gathered at police headquarters, Ripley, recently to see the new recruits sworn in at a special ceremony attended by Assistant Chief Constable Dee Collins, senior police officers and representatives of Derbyshire Police Authority.
The group of specials began an intensive course in March that ran over two weeks and six weekends studying various aspects of policing including crime scenes, road traffic collisions, statement taking and first aid.
Mountain rescue volunteer and outdoor instructor Robert Stordy, 21, will serve in Buxton with Joshua Parker, 24. Chapel-en-le-Frith’s James Brewin, 19, is also among the new Specials though his patch has not yet been decided.
