The Scope charity shop in Spring Gardens was re-opened by High Peak Mayor David Lomax on Saturday following a major refit – completed in less than a week.
A team of tradesmen replaced the old fixtures and fittings, before the shop team, mainly volunteers, swung into action.
Shop Manager Hannah Godber said: “The volunteers all made a massive contribution to be able to turn the shop around in a week.
“We have had a really good response to the refit and a lot of really lovely comments from customers.”
Saturday was the shops busiest day of trading for two years, with vintage and retro clothing proving popular.
Funds raised through the shop supports the charity’s work, including a free information and advice line for disabled people and their families.
To donate items or to find out more about volunteering, for an hour or more each week, pop into the shop which is open every day.
