Children have helped to put the brakes on drivers speeding past their school.

Pupils from Peak Forest CE (VC) Primary School held up signs to show drivers there is a 30mph speed limit on the route, with officers using a speed radar gun to track how fast vehicles were travelling.

Motorists who were found to be over the limit were pulled over and given words of advice about their behaviour.

Headteacher Ros Carter, said: “It is very worrying to see the speed that some motorists drive through our community so it was fantastic to have the Safer Neighbourhood officers visit our school to carry out the checks with the children.”
