A PROTEST at proposals to close Buxton’s Corbar Birth Centre is to take place at a meeting of the health trust tomorrow (Wednesday).

The protest demonstration will take place ahead of NHS Derbyshire County’s board meeting at their trust headquarters in Scarsdale, Chesterfield, when members of the PCT will decide whether to approve entering a pre-engagement process about Corbar Birth Centre before starting a formal engagement process.

Demonstrators will be protesting from around 12noon to show their opposition to the trust’s plan to review the future of Buxton Hospital’s Corbar Birth Centre, which would mean that High Peak women would have to travel between 13 and 18 miles to Macclesfield or Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport to give birth.

For more information on the protest, see the Save Corbar Birth Centre group on Facebook.
