DOCTORS at Buxton’s Stewart Medical Centre are a real tonic, according to top patient care experts.

The Hartington Road practice has been awarded the prestigious Quality Practice Award by the Royal College of General Practitioners for the quality of the care they provide.

Staff at the practice spent 18 months working towards the award, during which time the practice was rigorously scored for the quality of care provided to patients, the way it works and how the practice is run.

A special visit from the Royal College of Practitioners also took place with a team of experts spending a day with clinical and administrative staff to see how they work, interviewing patients and discussing services and quality of care with staff and patients.

Practice manager Louise Chipp, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won this prestigious award, which recognises the excellent care we provide for our patients and the tremendous hard work nursing staff, GPs and administrators put in every day to make sure our patients receive the best care possible.

“The whole experience has encouraged us to further improve the quality of care provided at our surgery and ways in which we work.”
