HIGH PEAK Mayor David Lomax was among those paying tribute to Britain’s Armed Forces at a special ceremony in Buxton this week.

Cllr Lomax addressed guests including retired Armed Forces personnel, members of the Royal British Legion, local cadets and councillors, residents, and representatives of Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service during Monday’s event, while ex-serviceman Brian Mycock raised a modified version of the Union Flag on the Pavilion Gardens car park.

The flag raising was a prelude to the third annual British Armed Forces Day, taking place on Saturday to promote understanding of the crucial role played by the Armed Forces in defending the nation, its people and interests.
