Councillors have been reassured over the proposed closure of Chapel-en-le-Frith’s police enquiry office.
PC Andy Crosthwaite told Chapel Parish Council last week that the Safer Neighbourhood Team would continue to work out of the Chapel office, and that other officers would be deployed at strategic times.
Cllr Jocelyn Street said: “I think it has to be accepted that people now access the police in many different ways, other than calling in at the office, so it may be that usage is low, but it would be useful to know exactly what the figures are.”
The council agreed to request statistics covering the use of the enquiry office, before deciding whether to make representations about its closure.
Cllr Mave Morrison added she hoped that strategic deployment would include appropriate police presence in the town on Friday and Saturday evenings.
