Police name men who died in horror smash near Buxton

Police have named two men who died in a crash near Buxton.

At about 12.45am on Thursday, a dark blue Land Rover Discovery, travelling towards Buxton, left the road at Sterndale Moor and collided with a tree.

The two male occupants of the vehicle, Craig Brassington, 27, and Robert Jenkins, 32, died in the crash.

The men were from Sterndale Moor.

Police are appealing to anybody who may have seen a vehicle fitting this description anywhere in the area prior to the incident to contact the collision investigation unit on 101, quoting incident number 11/12/11/15.

A section of the A515 was closed for several hours before reopening at about 9am.

On the Buxton Advertiser’s Facebook page, residents have told of their shock and sent their condolences to the relatives of the men involved in the collision.
