Residents living in New Mills are being asked to check their sheds and garages for any signs of a break–in.
Police were called to a house in Lantern View at around 12.30am on Wednesday, May 1, after a man reported seeing a suspicious man in his garden.
Officers searched the area and arrested a 41–year–old Denton man on suspicion of going equipped to steal.
Police are asking residents to check their outbuildings and ring 101 if they find any sign of a break–in. People are also being urged to take steps to ensure their property is secure including installing security lighting around sheds and garages and fitting high–quality padlocks on all shed and garage doors.
