Plans for police panel

Applications are being invited for a new role which will play a part in changes to the way crime and disorder is tackled in Derbyshire.

Elections in November will see new Police and Crime Commissioners appointed to serve a four-year term.

Now a new Police and Crime Panel, made up of councillors and independent members, is being set up to scrutinise and support the commissioner’s work.

Applicants should live or work in Derby or Derbyshire.

All independent panel members will receive appropriate training and will be allowed to claim reasonable expenses.

Meetings will be held at various locations across Derbyshire and duties are not expected to exceed one day a month.

Application packs are available from scrutiny@derbyshire.gov.uk or on 01629 538328 or 01629 538310.

The closing date for applications is September 2.
