A DOVE Holes pensioner has cooked up a treat for specialist cancer hospital The Christie by raising over £1,600 in memory of a family member.

Vera Sheard, of The Meadows, raised £1,652 by selling home-made jams, cheese and onion pies and holding a raffle at The Roebuck Inn at Chapel-en-le-Frith, in addition to serving lunches and dinners at her home. And with additional donations, the total amount raised for the charity has now swelled to over £1,700.

Vera, who has spent the last ten months raising the cash in memory of her late son-in-law Michael Andric, said: “I would like to thank all of the people who have helped me raise this money.

“I couldn’t have done it without them.”
