Firefighters from Whaley Bridge, New Mills, Marple, Chapel-en-le-Frith and Buxton were called out in the early hours on Sunday morning to deal with a caravan fire in Furness Vale.

On arrival at the incident, which took place on Yeardsley Lane shortly after midnight, the fire crews found a large caravan, well alight.

The crews used two breathing apparatus, two hoses, two mainlines and two ground monitors to extinguish the fire, which had been caused by hot embers which had been discarded in a shed and was made worse by three propane cylinders which ignited as a result.

The incident was declared closed and firefighters left the scene at 3.23am.
