Final preparations are being made for this year’s Dove Holes Carnival, which takes place next week.
The event, which was revived in 2008 after an absence of 16 years, will take place on Saturday August 24.
The parade starts at 1pm from Dale Road and will wind its way through the village before ending at the community centre, where a fete will take place.
Led by Dove Holes brass band, this year’s carnival will feature a variety of colourful foot characters and floats as well as this year’s carnival king, 18-year-old Thomas Green.
Activities at the community centre after the parade include birds of prey, Harley Davidsons, donkey rides, bouncy castles and a bungee challenge. There will also be a cake and dog show, as well as bands, the Urban Gypsies, various side stalls, a balloon race and a strong man challenge.
The fete will close at around 4.30pm with the entertainment continuing at the Queen’s Hotel throughout the evening.
Anyone who wants to take part in the parade should contact Sally on 07710 552 827.
