OVER 300 families attended a Party in the Park to mark the opening of new play areas at Cote Heath Recreation Ground by Buxton’s Olympic Torch Bearer, Bill Weston.
The celebrations organised by Cote Heath Park User Group committee and supported by Harpur Hill Children’s Centre saw children trying out the new equipment and taking part in free sports sessions provided by Little Sports.
The redevelopment has been possible thanks to grants from Sita, Lafarge Aggregates, Bingham Trust, Rotary Club, County and Borough councillors for the area, and Waitrose Community matters.
The Group, who also held a bag pack in Morrisons, would like to thank Sally Curley from High Peak Borough Council for her support and High Peak Community Housing and ROFA for the loan of equipment for the event.
Every Wednesday during the summer holidays the committee are funding free sports sessions. Further free fun summer activities for children nought to eight years are being held at Harpur Hill Children’s Centre. Contact the centre on 01298 74101 for details.
