Paraglider injured

A 39-year-old man paragliding in the Mam Tor area, on Saturday, sustained back injuries when he landed heavily in field near to the Rushup Edge road.

The man from Ilkeston was treated by ambulance service paramedics and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team medics, and carried to the waiting ambulance. He was transferred to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

Neil Carruthers, Buxton Team Leader said “We believe he was preparing to land, realised he was near to the road and landed awkwardly in the adjacent field.”
