BUXTON is to host its very own Olympic-themed sporting event to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Organised by local firm Guaranteed Fitness, the event will take place at Buxton Community School, on Saturday, August 18, with all proceeds going to charity.
The event, running from noon to 3pm, will consist of old favourites, such as the egg and spoon race and tug-of-war, along with popular Olympic events like the 100m sprint and shot putt. There will be a barbecue put on by Bar Brasserie.
Guaranteed Fitness owners Jon Hall and Matthew Nicholson chose to support Cancer Research as both lost family members to the disease.
Matthew said: “We’re hoping for a fantastic turn out to the Buxton Olympics event to help us raise money for a worthy cause.”
Teams of four will pay £20 to enter, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. All competitors must be 16 or over.
To enter, call Guaranteed Fitness on 01298 918917 or visit www.guaranteedfitness.co.uk/buxton-olympics.
