Children’s favourite The Gruffalo is coming to Lyme Park in Disley this summer.

From June 27 until August 31, the National Trust property will be exhibiting original artwork by Axel Scheffler, illustrator of ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’, ‘Room on a Broom’ and other children’s favourites.

There will be Gruffalo-themed activities, including a ‘Gruffalo Trail’ around the garden, and on Wednesdays there will be storytelling and picnics on the lawn.

Scheffler will be visiting Lyme Park on the opening day of the exhibition on June 27 to sign books, give live drawing demonstrations and maybe even read a story or two.

Rachael Walker, Visitor Experience Assistant at Lyme Park, said: “We are expecting a very busy summer in the garden as The Gruffalo is a favourite of so many children - and their parents!

“We are delighted to be showcasing Axel Scheffler’s artwork. He has brought to life so many of Julia Donaldson’s wonderful characters.”

The exhibition, trail and activities will all take place in Lyme’s garden which will be open every day between 11am and 5pm. A garden entry ticket is required.
